Pre-Reader

Pre-Reader Steps 1 & 2

Your child starts off learning the look and sound of the lowercase letters a, m, t, s, f and i, and gets practice writing those letters with the Pre-Reader Workbook Steps 1 & 2. There’s more story and letter fun with the books Pop Pop Pop and The Letter Hunt. You can play rhyming games and more with the ABC flash cards and celebrate reading progress with star stickers.

Pre-Reader Steps 3 & 4

The next step in your child’s alphabet adventure includes learning the look, sound, and how to write the lowercase letters d, r, o, g, l and k in the Pre-Reader Workbook Steps 3 & 4, and note progress with the star stickers. Plus, there’s more story and rhyming fun with the books The Cereal Box and Follow That Ball.

Pre-Reader Steps 5 & 6

The letter-learning journey continues with the lowercase letters u, c, b, n, v and h. Your child will build letter and sound recognition skills, including practice writing those letters in the Pre-Reader Workbook Steps 5 & 6, marking progress with the star stickers. Two imaginative stories, Night is Right for Me and The Party, encourage your child’s love of reading.

Pre-Reader Steps 7, 8 & 9

Finish off the alphabet fun with the lowercase letters e, w, j, p, y, x, q and z, and celebrate learning those last letters with star stickers. Your child will learn the look, sound and practice writing letters in the Pre-Reader Workbook Steps 7, 8 & 9 and enjoy two kid-favorite storybooks, Whacky Jack and Make Room for Zelda.

Pre-Reader Steps 10, 11 & 12

Now that your child has mastered the 26 lowercase letters, it’s time to introduce capital letters. It’s also time to learn the sounds of the vowel letters a, e, i, o and u, which are highlighted in the Pre-Reader Workbook Steps 10, 11 & 12. Those vowel sounds are emphasized in the storybook Swim With Dolphins, while capital letters are featured in Camper Kim. Cap off the learning experience with star stickers.

Learn to Read

Learn to Read Steps 1 & 2 

This Practice Pack will teach your child the short a vowel sounds at, an, ap, ad, am, and ag. They’ll also work on blending sounds to read single-syllable words. The commonly used sight words that will be taught are he, a, the, no, and and.

Learn to Read Steps 3 & 4

 In this Practice Pack, your child will explore the short i vowel sound ig, id, it, ip, im, in and continue blending new letter sounds to read single syllable words. They’ll also learn the following sight words: has, is, on, she, what, this, they, and go. 

Learn to Read Steps 5 & 6

In this Practice Pack, your child will not only blend the short a and i vowel sound that they have recently learned to create the ab, ix, and ill sounds, they’ll also learn how to add -s at the end of a word. Get ready!

Learn to Read Steps 7 & 8

This Practice Pack will introduce your child to the short o vowel sound ot, op, ox, ob, and og. They’ll continue blending sounds to read single syllable words and learn the following sight words: here, that, see, and are.

Learn to Read Steps 9 & 10

Time for a new vowel sound! In this Practice Pack, Your child will learn the short u vowel sounds ug, un, ut, ub, and up in Steps 9 & 10. Sight words like, to, me, who, my, and of will also be introduced.

Learn to Read Steps 11 & 12

It’s time to get to know the short vowel e sounds ed, en, et, eg, and ell! In this Practice Pack, Your child will also learn how to add -ck to the end of words. Get ready for the following commonly used sight words said, was, with, you, then, and be.

Learn to Read Steps 13 & 14

 In this Practice Pack, your child will start learning beginning consonant digraphs (ch, sh, th, and wh) as well as beginning consonant blends (st, sn, sm, sp, sc, and sk). Not only that, but the list of sight words continues to grow with play, says, over, hard, and more!

Learn to Read Steps 15 & 16

Here come more consonant blends! In this Practice Pack, your child will learn to read sw, st, fl, gl, cl, bl, pl, gr, fr, br, cr, and pr. The sight words introduced in the following lesson are ride, blue, there, very, could, we, car, way, which, right, love, and hello.

Learn to Read Steps 17 & 18

 In this Practice Pack, your child will start decoding two-syllable words by breaking words into syllables. They’ll also learn the following beginning consonant blends and digraphs: dr, tr, qu, and more!

Learn to Read Steps 19 & 20

 Next up, ending consonant blends: mp, nd, ng, nt, nk, st, sp, sk, ft, lk, and lt. In this Practice Pack, your child will also go over some new sight words: make, goes, want, first, begin, her, to, and more.

Learn to Read Steps 21 & 22

 Next up, en In this Practice Pack, inflectional endings will be introduced. These are -ing, -er, -ly, -es, and -ed. They’ll also continue practicing decoding two-syllable words. This is the big leagues of reading!

Learn to Read Steps 23 & 24

In this Practice Pack, your child will learn words with final -e and long vowels: a, e, i, o, u. They’ll also learn common long-vowel teams: ee, ea, ow, oa.
